Malaria Vaccine Scale-up SBCC Campaign: Community Dialogues

Across the six dialogue sessions, a total of 253 participants were reached. Montserrado County accounted for the majority (166), with King Gray (Commonwealth) reaching 36, Soniwein (Central Monrovia) 47, Logan Town (Bushrod) 47, and Neezoe (Somalia Drive) 36. Bong County engaged 44 participants in Wainsue (Jorquelleh), while Nimba County reached 43 participants in Zuluyee (Sanniquellie-Mah). This distribution shows strong turnout in Montserrado’s urban communities alongside solid engagement in Bong and Nimba, bringing the consolidated total to 253.

Malaria Vaccine Scale-up SBCC Campaign

With leadership and support from the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) REACH, the Liberia Malaria Youth Corps (LMYC)—led locally by Remote Health Reach in collaboration with the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP)—delivered an 11-day SBCC campaign (Sept 23–Oct 5, 2025) across Montserrado, Nimba, and Bong.

The campaign featured six community dialogues, household mobilization in 97 communities across eight health districts. And coordinated social media outreach to strengthen acceptance of the malaria vaccine among caregivers and key influencers.

Inter-High School Quiz Competition – “Quiz for Malaria”

To make malaria education more youth-friendly, we also launched the first-ever “Quiz for Malaria” in Kakata, Margibi, on April 24th, 2025. Four high schools competed in a lively knowledge contest covering prevention, testing, and treatment, with gender-balanced teams and strong participation from community leaders, teachers, and health officials. Booker Washington Institute won the inaugural edition. The quiz directly reached 300+ students and teachers, strengthened school–health authority partnerships, and inspired a new cadre of youth champions to carry malaria messages to their peers.

Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Campaign in Slum Communities

As part of World Malaria Day 2025, the Liberia Malaria Youth Corps—with support from Catholic Relief Services (CRS)—led a two-day SBC campaign (April 21–22, 2025) across six high-risk urban communities in Montserrado County: Soniwein, West Point, Logan Town, Clara Town, King Gray, and Redlight. Twenty trained LMYC volunteers worked in three zones to deliver door-to-door visits, street engagement, and small-group discussions.

Over two days, we directly engaged 3,500+ people across 500+ households. Volunteers shared targeted messages on consistent use of insecticide-treated nets, early testing, and treatment.

Remote Health Reach (RHR) is a Liberian non-profit founded in 2023, delivering life-saving health interventions and advancing equitable access to healthcare for underserved communities.
