On October 12, 2025, young people from the Liberia Malaria Youth Corps (LMYC) returned to the Liberia Marathon for the second consecutive year, participating as Team LMYC under the campaign tag #Run2EndMalaria.
For the second year running, the marathon served as more than a sporting event—it became a platform for youth-led public health advocacy. Team LMYC ran to raise awareness about malaria prevention and to support national efforts around malaria vaccine scale-up, reinforcing the message that malaria can be prevented and eliminated with collective action.
As they ran through the streets of Monrovia, LMYC members engaged runners, spectators, and community members, sharing key messages on malaria prevention, early care-seeking, and vaccination. Their visible presence helped spark conversations, challenge misinformation, and keep malaria high on the public agenda.
The Liberia Malaria Youth Corps is led by Remote Health Reach (RHR) and works closely with national partners, including the National Malaria Control Program, as part of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA). Through youth mobilization, SBCC, and community engagement, LMYC continues to position young people as champions in Liberia’s malaria response.
Participating in the Liberia Marathon for the second year in a row reflects LMYC’s growing commitment to sustained, youth-powered action. By combining sport, visibility, and health messaging, Team LMYC demonstrated how young people can drive awareness and support progress toward a malaria-free Liberia.
As Liberia advances malaria vaccine scale-up and other prevention strategies, LMYC remains committed to standing with communities—year after year—to say clearly and confidently: Zero Malaria Starts With Me.
